Dragon Age AU test post
A:
There's a new face at Skyhold, and the mage in the violet robes is taking a moment to get his bearings in the mountain stronghold. Checking out the stables, the tavern, everywhere that is open for the kind-of public and new recruits. Even though his robes are obviously Orlesian (being ostentatious and flashy as they are, a fabric that's not even available to find and probably does little to no actual good), he seems very down to earth and charming, for a mage.
B:
He has nothing but utmost respect for the non-mage surgeon who tends to the Inquisition's wounded. But he closes his eyes and summons up a brilliant blue healing light around his hands, letting it surge forward and wrap around the wound, knitting skin and bone back together and purging all fever. Whether you're the patient or just somebody who happens to see it, Spirit Healing is a pretty uncommon sight, and a pretty beautiful one.
C:
North is useless at tromping around the wilderness. Please save him from tripping over his own robes and falling ass over teakettle into a bear. He may be about the same size as a bear but it definitely has him beat in bulk. Or help this man start a fire. Basically just protect him. He is a delicate circle mage.
D:
Make your own!

Unfortunatly her message of 'don't send him to the Spirit Healer' was not received in time.
The only thing Fenris sees when he wakes is blond hair and a faint blue glow hovering over the gash just above his right eye.
His markings flair as he hits the offending
healinghand away. He tries to sit up, but the pain in his torso sends him right back into the mattress.no subject
But he sits back next to the bedside, putting aside his own curiosity for the greater good of his patient.]
Shh, you're badly injured. Let me help you.
no subject
That can change at any moment though.
The lyrium brands slowly dim as he takes in the man sitting above him.]
Who are you? Where am I?
[He sounds way more hostile than he needs to. Too be fair the last thing he remembers is being set upon by demons, so he's still rather on edge.]
no subject
though maybe a little by dat voice doe]You're in Skyhold, home of the Inquisition. Our scouts brought you here injured, so that we could treat you.
I'm North- one of the Inquisition's volunteers.
no subject
Where is Hawke?
[He came here at her request, she must be somewhere.]
no subject
She's coming, last I heard. I'm just a healer, I don't get to read messages from people as important as Hawke.
[He tries to sound casual and disarming.]
I doubt she'd like to see you still injured when the Inquisition has resources to heal you.
May I heal you?
no subject
Fenris narrows his eyes.]
Since when do mages ask before using their powers?
no subject
I won't touch you without your consent, Ser.
no subject
You'd be the first.
[If North is paying close enough attention he may notice the elf's arms are beginning to tremble under the strain of keeping himself up]
no subject
Plus, whatever the idiot does to himself North can fix whenever he's allowed to heal him.]
Not the last, I hope.
Would you feel better if I tried to explain what I was doing?
no subject
I have a sinking feeling you will be.
[He stares at North for another moment, then imagines Hawke's nagging if she arrived and found out he'd refused healing.
Welp, at least this one isn't an abomination, right?
Fenris flops back on the bed, his arms finally giving out]
Fine.
no subject
I'm going to draw on my bond with my friend, Trust, now, so that I can set these broken ribs.
[His voice is calm and level, and he waits until he sees some kind of assent from Fenris.
If he's one of Hawke's companions he, uh, knew. That other guy. With the spirit healing. The one who Fucked Up Hardcore.]
no subject
you would be correct in that assumption, yesFenris' dark eyebrows shoot up into his hair line and he almost recoils away from North. As it is his muscles visible tense under his skin. When he speaks his voice is a snarl.]
Your friend wouldn't happen to be a demon, would they?
no subject
No, he wouldn't.
[Plain and simple, in the tone of "Do no harm but take no shit."]
May I?
no subject
On the other hand he can already hear Hawke's nagging voice. 'Fenris, why didn't you get healed?' 'Fenris, not all mages are bad' 'Fenris, he's won't hurt you.' 'Fenris, suck it up']
Fine. But only the worst of the injuries.
no subject
[North closes his eyes in concentration, hands held out over (but not touching) Fenris. A soft blue glow, almost lavender, surrounds his hands, flickering shyly when it meets Fenris' tattoos.
But then the magic starts to do its job, providing a warm, gentle pain relief as it dives in and knits bone back together, puts blood back where it belongs, and does a quick run through Fenris' veins to make sure all systems check out.
All throughout, it's only the mage's arms that glow. Not his eyes, not his face, the power of the Fade only dancing across his skin, not breaking through it.]
no subject
The warm, pain relief almost makes it worse though. He'd feel better if it did hurt so it's be easier to stay tense, stay angry at the magic even though it was helping him. Fenris is angry at his body for wanting to relax in the rush of relief it provides but is powerless to stop his muscle from growing lax.
He lets out an involuntary sigh and shuts his eyes for a brief moment as he feels the magic coursing through him. The lyrium lights in waves as North's magic checks through all of his systems.]
Well?
[His voice doesn't have the same bite as it did before. Now that he no longer has the pain to keep him away Fenris notices how tired he actually is.]
no subject
He smiles, a little tiredly.]
I'd take it easy for tonight, but you should be good as new in the morning.
[That wasn't so bad, was it?]
no subject
That was...different from other healings.
[He says, completely ignoring the other's comment.]
no subject
[Not sarcastically at all.]
no subject
[He says the word 'Spirit' as if it difficult to not call it a demon again.]
no subject
It is. Peaceful, I mean. It can be incredibly dangerous without training and experience, but with enough practice it's...like calling on a good friend to lend you a hand.
no subject
especially blond healers with spirit 'friends']A friend who just so happens to not have a body. And who may take over your body at any time.
no subject
[You know, not to make a pun- ...he just made a pun out of his spirit friend.]
no subject
I was under the impression all beings in the Fade wished to enter our world.
[Look at him, not calling them demons. Progress]
no subject
[He'll fucking stan for his friend all night if you want, Fenris let's go]
no subject
[There is genuine confusion in his voice. Not too much, can't seem vunerable!]
no subject
no subject
I should thank you for your assistence.
no subject
It couldn't be more different, as far as he's concerned.]
It's no trouble at all. I'm glad that I could help.
[Sensing no other questions, he stands up, patting the cot next to Fenris.]</small. Get some rest. I'll be back around to give you another check in a few hours - no more magic, I promise.
no subject
C
For someone with a compass around his neck and the name North your sense of direction leaves a bit to be desired.
no subject
I'm afraid they stopped teaching Astronomy in the Circle before I got there.
I'm starting to think the Inquisition is sending me out like this for comic relief.
no subject
Pity about that. My sister would have loved to learn it.
no subject
Or in Kinloch, really, for that matter.]
I'm sure we have a dusty tome somewhere that has the basics. That's just one tome that I haven't gotten around to reading yet.
[He's trying to sound like he's not slightly awed at being in the presence of the Champion.]
no subject
Just the one? My, you have been busy.
no subject
That's pretty much the only thought that runs through his head at that moment, towering over her and meeting her blue eyes.]
You can get a lot of reading done in 23 years.
